10 Things That Inspire Our Creativity

Whether it is a brand new creative design, an interesting story angle we are pitching or a modified business operation that makes our lives a little easier, creativity shows itself in many ways around Off Madison Ave.  Just as diverse as the types of creativity we have among our staffers is what specifically inspires each individual person. For this week's "10 Things," we asked a few of our staffers what inspires them.

1. "Rainy days, yoga practice, long instrumental playlists, people watching and whenever we move desks at the agency." Lindsay Willis, Client Services

2. "Doodling. Isn't that a funny looking word?" Ashley Duncan, Creative

3. "My niece and nephew (ages 2 and 9). They tend to see things in the simplest, purest or most exciting form. This is so inspiring and helps me to see things differently and be creative in ways I would have never been before experiencing things alongside them." Melissa Sawhill, Operations

4. "Experiencing something new always inspires me. Traveling, flipping through a new magazine issue, changing my regular routine or even just switching up my work space helps give me fresh perspective." Kayla Weimer, Public Relations

5. "I’d honestly have to say what inspires my creativity is humor." Albert Barroso, Creative

6. "I think Leo Burnett summed it up well. 'Curiosity about life in all its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.' Also, a copious amount of caffeine seems to be a staple in most creative people’s diet." Kent Mann, Media

7. "Creativity is inspired by the little miracles that we get to witness each day. A beautiful sunset. A tiny dust devil crossing the road. Sunshine and rain together. A child’s giggle over a mistake they made." Rhonda Smith, Client Services

8. "When I feel like I’m starving for creative inspiration I visit 'this is Colossal,' a blog that always jars my mind and gets my creative juices flowing again." Dan Shewmaker, Creative

9. "30 minutes walking around the Apple Store. And while we’re on Apple, their product packaging is always pretty jaw-dropping." Spike Stevens, Interactive Services

10. "My 11-month-old daughter inspires me to earn every hug and giggle. She also 'inspires' me to get out of bed at 5 every morning." Matthew Bennett, Interactive Services
